Dr Dan meets with clinical staff at the Diabetes Centre at Ipswich Hospital

Dr Dan outside the Diabetes and Endocrine Centre at Ipswich Hospital Dr Dan recently met with specialist consultants and nurses at the Diabetes and Endocrine Centre at Ipswich Hospital. The Diabetes and Endocrine Centre, which has been highly commended in the national team of the year awards, offers specialist care in both Diabetes and Endocrinology, and was the first specialist centre built in the UK, back in 1985. The Specialist Diabetes Team at Ipswich include Diabetologists, Specialist Diabetes Nurses and a Specialist Dietitian. Dan was given a tour of the specialist unit by lead consultant Dr Rayman, before he spoke with members of the clinical team about the vital work they carry out looking after people with diabetes in Ipswich and Suffolk. Dan was also encouraged to hear the strong support expressed by the consultants for better integrated health and preventative care services in Suffolk. Ipswich Hospital is very lucky to have this specialist centre which helps so many people with diabetes within a caring and supportive environment.

It was a real pleasure for Dan to talk with Dr Rayman and his team and he looks forward to using his knowledge of the NHS both locally and nationally to continue supporting their excellent work.

It is probably worth pointing out, too, that I had the pleasure of being a medical student at King’s many years ago. I pay tribute to the hon. Member for Dulwich and West Norwood (Helen Hayes) on securing...
