Dan was delighted to start the 1st Eye Scout Group Duck Race at the Pennings Nature Reserve in Ludgate Causeway. The annual event has become a popular fixture among local residents and this year, 755 ducks lined up on the River Dove, as they made their way to the finish line. Various other activities were on offer, including traditional games and refreshments, and Dan chatted to residents of all ages before presenting the prizes to the winning ducks. Dan also helped to judge the duck-drawing and duck-made-out-of-vegetable competitions.
It is estimated that nearly £2,000 was raised on the day, with the proceeds going towards the 1st Eye Scout Group’s bid to move into a new home. Dan would like to thank Eye Town Mayor, Councillor Merlin Carr, for helping to organising the successful event, and he very much looks forward to attending again next year.
