Dr Dan welcomes support behind proposed new community facility in Framlingham

Dr Dan with members of the Framlingham Police House Site Steering GroupDan has given his backing to a much-needed new community facility in Framlingham, after he recently chaired a meeting of the Framlingham Police House Site Steering Group, which is hoping to convert the old police station site in Badingham Road into a new community facility for young people.

Earlier this year, the Mills Charity purchased the site and offered the community a chance to buy it by the end of next year. This triggered the setting up of the Framlingham Police House Steering Group, which is made up of members from the sports club, Scouts, Guides and Framlingham Area Youth Action Partnership (FAYAP).

A series of meetings have taken place over recent months, where plans to turn the redundant site into a community facility for young people to use have been discussed. Framlingham Town Council have given their full support for the steering group’s plans, which are now likely to be drawn up in more detail before further funding is sought. Dan regularly meets with Suffolk’s young people at our local schools and colleges, and is a strong supporter of the steering group’s plans to provide for a new community facility, which will enable youngsters in Framlingham to engage in meaningful activity whilst meeting with friends. He will be following the steering group’s progress closely in the weeks and months ahead and would like to thank John Spate and all the members of the group for their continued hard work.

If we are to care properly for people with the long-term conditions he has outlined, we need to have a more joined-up and integrated system. It is hard to deliver that when we have a taxpayer-funded NHS and a social care system in which many people now have to pay for their own care. In looking for a...

Offensive Weapons Bill: Ipswich-London Rail Fares (15 Oct 2018)
Daniel Poulter: I thank my hon. Friend’s welcome news on capping rail fares, but does he not also agree that it is difficult for customers to disaggregate the cost of the fare—those in Ipswich are very high per mile by national standards—from reliability and speed of service? Despite the cost of tickets from Ipswich, reliability and speed of service have not improved over the years....
