Eye

The weather held off as Dan took a tour of the shops in Eye. He was accompanied by long standing Councillor Charles Flatman who introduced Dan to many of the owners, employees and customers.

Dan enjoyed a cup of tea in one of the excellent tea shops.

Small and medium-sized shops and businesses are the lifeblood of our economy in Suffolk by providing jobs for local people, driving economic growth and giving market towns like Eye their unique identity.

Daniel Poulter: My hon. Friend makes a fair point, although it is difficult for a board that has effectively had a merger foisted on it to appreciate fully how a hospital will run across two sites—or even three sites, with Orpington as well. I am sure the Minister will go away and think about that in the context of the PFI and whether something more could be done to help with the PFI debt.
