Last Friday Dan paid a visit to one of Ipswich's amazingly successful cycle speedway clubs, the Ipswich Eagles (Kesgrave Panthers are, of course, our other leading club). It was their Academy training evening, open to new comers and under 10s. Dan stood by the side of the floodlit track at the Whitton Sports and Community Centre and watched an England International flying around the track at breakneck speed and really enjoyed the experience of being a spectator at a very interesting sporting evening.
Boys and girls of all ages were expertly marshalled by enthusiastic and knowledgeable volunteers and coaches and were put through their paces in a number of fun races and exercises, either as individuals or as part of a team. Dan thought it was fantastic to see so many children enjoying themselves having fun, keeping fit and making new friends.
Dan was also pleased to see so many parents and volunteers giving up their time to help these children learn new sporting and social skills.
