Local Suffolk library celebrates its 10th Birthday

Last week, Dan dropped in on the celebrations for Debenham Library's 10th birthday. Despite the best efforts of the weather Dan was pleased to see such a large number of people turn up to enjoy the occasion.

The continued success of Debenham Library is down to the hard work of members from the local community, who first came together to take over the current building which had been left empty by a bank ten years ago. When the future of some of our public libraries was cast into doubt in 2011, Dan helped to lead a campaign to keep Debenham Library open and remembers attending the 24 hour 'read-in' and signing the Save Debenham Library wall.

He is delighted to have played his part in helping to secure the future of the library, which will soon be moving to the local village primary school in order to expand its book stock and range of services for the community. Dan wishes all the staff and volunteers every success in their new building and looks forward to visiting in the near future.

Clearly, trusts already have flexibility through “Agenda for Change” to start people on a higher pay point, but I wondered more generally whether my hon....

NHS Wholly Owned Subsidiary Companies — [Mr Philip Hollobone in the Chair] (6 Mar 2018)
Daniel Poulter: The hon. Lady and her colleagues are right to highlight the fact that the financial pressure on the NHS is the main driver for this situation. Does she agree that it is very difficult in some services to differentiate between administrators and back-office services, and frontline services? Sometimes, administrators and back-office workers are embedded in clinical teams, and this actually...
