Dr Dan paid another visit to the Woodlands mental health unit, based on the Ipswich Hospital site. The unit treats adults of all ages experiencing acute mental health issues who are unable to receive an appropriate level of care in the community. Dr Dan met with the hard-working staff members and was taken on a tour of the unit where he was also able to speak to patients about their experiences of the ward.
As an NHS doctor who continues to practice medicine in an unpaid capacity, Dr Dan recognises the unique challenges presented by caring for and treating those with mental illness and was impressed with the dedication of the NHS teams working hard to ensure that the patients at Woodlands receive the very best possible care.
