The impact of Coronavirus on childcare providers

Thank you for contacting me with you concerns regarding childcare centres.

I have recently written to the Secretary of State for Education on this matter following recent correspondence from such childcare providers in my constituency.  I shall seek to inform you of the response I receive in due course.

I recognise that the Coronavirus restrictions will have had a big impact on providers and so I am pleased that the Government acted swiftly to support providers.  A range of support has been made available, including a business rates holiday for one year.  This means that non-local authority providers of childcare will pay no business rates in 2020-21, from 1 April.  The Secretary of State for Education has also confirmed that the Department for Education will continue to fully fund local authorities for free childcare entitlements.  Further details on the support available for childcare providers can be found here

Thank you again for taking the time to write to me.
