Central Suffolk and North Ipswich MP, Dr Dan Poulter was delighted to meet two exceptional colleagues at Asda in Whitehouse.
Dr Poulter learned about the young Portuguese apprentice who started working at Asda on the shop floor before applying to their excellent apprenticeship scheme and a longer standing colleague who has dedicated 25 years to the community as one of Asda’s Community Champions.
The young apprentice has been hugely successful in building a new life here in Ipswich, making the most of the apprenticeship, gaining a qualification and developing a career.
Dr Poulter enjoyed a proud moment when he presented Community Champion, Sandra Irvine with a letter and certificate in recognition of 25 years outstanding service to the community of North Ipswich.
The Asda Foundation offers wonderful support to many groups and charities and, as part of this, Sandra has had a positive impact on many people’s lives. She leaves an astonishing legacy that will no doubt inspire future Community Champions.
After the visit, Dr Poulter said, “It really was an absolute pleasure to meet Sandra and celebrate her selfless contribution to her local community. A strong sense of community and looking out for one another is what makes Suffolk such a truly special place to live and I am proud to serve as MP here. I wish Sandra all the very best for a long and happy retirement.”
Dr Poulter enjoyed the visit very much and looks forward to a returning in the future.
