Dr Dan Poulter, MP for Central Suffolk and North Ipswich was pleased to visit Debenham today, where he met with several business owners, managers and their teams.
As the tour began it included Ruby and the Angel, Webster’s Newsagents, Spiral Gallery, Charles Rickards Financial Advisors and then on to Bloomfields Yard, where he met further business owners.
Webster’s Newsagents is one of the longest running family businesses in the area, Grace and Robert Webster started in 1958 and it is still going strong! Ruby and the Angel, selling clothes and gifts, is a relative newcomer, established in 2016 and despite the pandemic, is going from strength to strength. On the Ruby and the Angel website the shop is described as, “…on one very loved high street!”
During his visit, Dr Poulter learned more about how the needs of shoppers have changed in recent years, with the impact of lockdown still being felt and rising living costs.
Speaking about his visit, Dr Poulter said “We have such a wealth of fantastic shops and businesses here in Debenham and it is fantastic to see them doing so well and working hard to continue to meet the changing needs of their customers. Wherever possible I always buy locally, and I will most certainly be visiting Debenham High Street again very soon.”
Dr Poulter also met with the International Motorbike Restoration Company, Earl Soham Brewery and Mando Metalsmith, an exciting and unusual business, who make specialist equipment and props for Comicon, such as Mandolorian helmets.
