Last week, Dr Dan attended a meeting with the Friends of Hartismere Hospital Group to discuss the future of Hartismere Community Hospital in Eye. Thanks to Dan’s efforts, the hospital is currently undergoing a £1.5 million refurbishment which is due to be complete in May 2012. As a doctor, Dan knows how local health services such as Hartismere Hospital play a vital role in Suffolk’s rural communities, helping to deliver healthcare in the community. Residents present at the meeting also raised their concerns about future commissioning arrangements for Hartismere, along with plans to provide a new care home at the site. Dan will continue to work with the League of Friends and looks forward to seeing this much needed rural health service grow in the years ahead.
