It was a pleasure for Dan to visit Suffolk Family Carers in Claydon, to meet with Chief Executive Jacqui Martin. The single biggest healthcare challenge in Ipswich and Suffolk, is looking after our growing ageing population, which will bring a greater demand for high quality, integrated health and social care in the years ahead. Suffolk Family Carers provides a support network to offer practical advice to carers both young and old about how to care for relatives suffering from a variety of illnesses and conditions.
The Government has committed to establishing a local Health Care and Wellbeing Board in Suffolk, which will bring together local NHS, public health and social care commissioners to promote more integrated care and support for our elderly people, and charities such as Suffolk Family Carers will have a key part to play in providing the home and community support for older residents with conditions such as dementia. Suffolk Family Carers already plays a vital role in the local community, and Dan would like to commend Jacqui Martin and her team of staff and volunteers for their selfless hard work.
