Last week, Dan held his latest Business Breakfast meeting in Little Bealings, where he had the opportunity to listen to the concerns of some of Suffolk’s entrepreneurs and to speak about what he is doing in Parliament to support local business growth during this challenging economic period.
Dan focussed on a number of topics, and answered questions ranging from business rate relief for small businesses, to the role that supermarkets can play to promote growth in the British economy and ideas to reinvigorate high street shops. One of the biggest concerns Dan hears from local business owners revolves around our infrastructure in Suffolk, and particularly the lack of a high-speed, reliable broadband service, which puts our businesses at an unfair disadvantage to their competitors. In the 21st century, this is something that is unacceptable. Dan set out the work he has been doing to support businesses in Suffolk, and spoke about the Government and Suffolk County Council’s commitment of over £20 million to support the roll out of high speed broadband across Suffolk by 2015, which will allow our businesses to grow and employ more local people.
Dan always takes much away from his meetings with local businesses and values the opportunity to hear their feedback. Businesses of all sizes form the lifeblood of our local economy in Ipswich and Suffolk, which is why it is so important to ensure they are properly supported. He will continue to fight for our local businesses in Parliament to make sure they are not hampered by unnecessary red tape and bureaucracy, but are instead allowed to continue creating jobs, investing in our communities, and driving local economic growth for years to come. Dan would like to thank both Jenna Cox and Steve Britt for organising and chairing the event, along with the staff at the Admiral’s Head in Little Bealings, who kindly hosted the breakfast.
