Since Dan was elected as your MP for Central Suffolk and North Ipswich, he has visited most of the schools in his constituency and always enjoy meeting with teachers, governors and pupils. We all share the view that giving young people the best possible start in life is vital for their personal development and essential for our future economy and society, both locally and nationally.
During his regular school visits, Dan sees at firsthand the enthusiasm to learn that our young people show and is always full of admiration for our hardworking teachers and staff, who are prepared to go the extra mile to inspire children to succeed. Every pupil deserves the opportunity to achieve their full potential, and our teachers have a key part to play in transforming our children’s life chances in Ipswich and Suffolk.
Last week Dan visited Whitehouse Community Primary School in Ipswich and met with Head Teacher Jackie Frost, before listening to a small group of students from the School Council about their ideas to improve the school. Under Jacqui Frost’s leadership, Whitehouse Primary School has gone from strength to strength and was recently commended for the high quality of its science teaching. Whitehouse is larger in size than most primary schools, and teaches around 420 local children between the ages of 3 and 11, who then normally move on to Westbourne Sports College nextdoor. It is always a breath of fresh air for Dan to be able to chat to our young people, and the students were a credit to Jacqui and her staff. Dan will be working hard to ensure that our schools in North Ipswich receive their fair share of attention from the Ipswich Borough Council, and looks forward to visiting Whitehouse Primary School again.
