Last week, Dan was invited to visit the new Treehouse childrens’ hospice in Ipswich. He is always filled with admiration for the wonderful work of the dedicated staff and volunteers at our hospices in Ipswich and Suffolk. Staff at the Treehouse Hospice not only provide specialist end of life care on site in Ipswich but also provide excellent outreach care for families both at home and in the community.
The Hospice, which is run by the East Anglia Children’s Hospices charity, provides support for children with life-threatening conditions and their families from Suffolk and North Essex, and was recently built after £3 million was raised in a successful public appeal. Thousands of residents, along with many local businesses, community groups and charitable trusts helped to raise the money to enable the facility to be built last year. The state-of-the-art Hospice offers a wide range of advanced facilities for young people with terminal illnesses, including a multi-sensory studio, hydrotherapy pool, music room, play areas, sensory garden, a woodland walk and specialist outdoor play equipment.
Dan would like to extend his warmest congratulations to Chief Executive Graham Butland and the staff, trustees and volunteers who work so tirelessly to care for these young people. He would also like to thank Fundraiser Vanessa Bell, who kindly showed him around the hospice, and looks forward to continuing his support of the Hospice in the weeks and months ahead.
