It was a real pleasure for Dan to visit Otley Village Stores and Post Office to present owners Andrew and Penny Sunaway with the Parliamentary Best Small Shops Competition 2011. Now in its second year, the annual Parliamentary Small Shops’ Competition is run by the All-Party Parliamentary Small Shops’ Group and involves MPs nominating one shop from each constituency to be considered for the award. The competition aims to promote those outstanding small shops that play a key role in supporting their local communities. Otley Village Stores and Post Office lies at the very heart of the local community and provides a vital service by going above and beyond in supporting and bringing together residents in Otley. That is why Dan nominated the shop for this prestigious House of Commons award and he would like to congratulate Andrew and Penny Sunaway and all the staff at Otley Village Stores for all their hard work in achieving this well-deserved recognition of their contribution to the local community.
