Dr Dan was recently invited to draw the winning raffle ticket at the Castle Inn in Framlingham, as the pub closed its latest fundraiser, with the proceeds raised going towards the Woolverstone Wing at Ipswich Hospital. £440 was raised on the day, which will go towards improving facilities for patients at the hospital’s cancer ward.
Those present on the evening paid £1 for a ticket, before a new 50” TV, which was bought by the pub to enable customers to watch the European Championships, Wimbledon tennis tournament and the Olympics as part of its ‘summer of sport’, was raffled off to the lucky winner.
The Woolverstone Wish fund was launched in September 2009 to raise money to refurbish the chemotherapy outpatient clinics and day unit in the Woolverstone Wing of Ipswich Hospital. The aim of the fund is to raise £800,000 to increase the space, improve privacy for patients and provide a more comfortable treatment area.
Dan would like to extend his thanks to Landlords Alan Knight and Henrietta Lewis for inviting him to take part in the day’s events, along with all of those who turned out to support the appeal, and looks forward to visiting the Castle Inn again.
