Last week, Dr Dan was delighted to support the local Co-Op in Wickham Market and our frontline paramedics in the East of England Ambulance Service by unveiling the first of 100 heart defibrillators that will be rolled out in rural communities across Suffolk, Norfolk and Essex. A large number of local people visited the Co-Op store in Wickham Market as Dan spoke about how the new heart defibrillators can provide life-saving support before paramedics arrive on the scene in an emergency situation when someone’s heart stops beating.
It is estimated that someone has a heart attack every two minutes in the UK and a third of those who suffer a fatal heart attack die before they can be taken to hospital. Defibrillators help to restart the heart in the event of an emergency and will make a vital difference in helping to save lives in our harder to reach, rural Suffolk communities
Dan would like to pay tribute to our hardworking frontline paramedics and community first responders in Suffolk and to thank everyone involved in launching this excellent initiative.
