Suffolk’s local charities, voluntary groups and not-for-profit organisations play a vital role in our local economy and our communities. Dr Dan recently visited SAFE cic, a community interest company in Eye which handles Criminal Records Bureau checks (CRB) for voluntary groups and provides local organisations with advice on how to complete safeguarding risk assessments for both adults and children.
SAFE cic currently have around 1200 client organisations and also offer various online training courses to enable groups, such as the Scouts, to fulfil their safeguarding obligations when working with children or vulnerable adults.
Dan met with Rosie Carter and her staff, before discussing issues surrounding the current CRB checking regime, such as the extent to which employee positions at leisure centres require CRB clearance. Dan would like to thank Rosie and her staff for welcoming him, and looks forward to visiting again.
