Kesgrave High School today welcomed their local MP, Dr Dan Poulter, and students had the opportunity to learn more about the role of an MP, both in Westminster and here in the Central Suffolk and North Ipswich constituency.
Dr Dan first met with Head Teacher, Mr Burgoyne, to talk about the many successes of the school and to learn more about how the current cohort of students had just completed their GCSEs. Afterwards, Dr Dan joined a group of A level politics students where an in-depth discussion followed on the Conservative Party Leadership, topical and environmental matters and the role of women in politics. The group of students were impressively engaged with current politics and enjoyed putting their many and challenging questions directly to their local MP.
After talking with the students, Dr Dan added that "It's always gratifying to see our outstanding students and young adults here in Suffolk so engaged with politics and the wider issues, especially putting forward such carefully considered and well informed questions. Kesgrave High School always offers me an exceptionally warm welcome and it was abundantly clear that the students had very carefully considered their views in preparing their challenging questions."
