Member of Parliament for Central Suffolk and North Ipswich, Dr Dan Poulter, has been unanimously re-elected for the third time as Chair of the influential All-Party Parliamentary Group on Maternity.
All-Party Parliamentary Groups are groups within the Houses of Parliament that have a membership of backbench Members of the House of Commons and Peers. They allow MPs to work constructively with others from different political parties on an issue of common interest.
The All-Party Parliamentary Maternity Group campaigns to raise standards of NHS care for pregnant women and women during childbirth. Fellow MPs are impressed with Dr Poulter’s medical background and expertise in women’s health which makes him a strong advocate for the needs of pregnant women.
Since its launch in 2000, the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Maternity has held regular events and continues to commission studies in conjunction with experts in areas such as maternity and paternity leave, premature child birth and baby feeding.
