On the eve of Small Business Saturday, Central Suffolk and North Ipswich MP, Dr Dan Poulter is encouraging residents across Central Suffolk and North Ipswich to shop local this Christmas.
Small Business Saturday UK is a grassroots, non-commercial campaign, which highlights small business success and encourages consumers to “shop local”. As a key supporter of the East Anglian Daily Times’ “Shop Local” campaign, Dr Poulter is urging local residents to support local businesses in the run up to Christmas.
Although Suffolk remains in Tier 2, under the latest Government guidance, non-essential retailers are now open once again and welcoming customers back into their stores to shop and browse in a Covid-secure way.
Dr Poulter said “Small shops and independent retailers form the backbone of our rural economy and here in Suffolk we are spoiled for choice, with so many fantastic local businesses – not just in my Central Suffolk and North Ipswich constituency, but across the whole county. As well as offering a fantastic range of unique and high quality gifts, local produce and services, they often provide an invaluable community hub in our small market towns and villages.”
“I know that many of them have worked incredibly hard to make sure that customers can shop and access services in a Covid-secure manner, so this year, more than ever, I would definitely encourage people to shop local this Christmas and support our fantastic local retailers. So many of them went above and beyond to support our communities during lockdown and we can now help them by shopping locally.”
