What next for agriculture in a post-Brexit landscape?

On Tuesday morning, ahead of a busy day in Parliament, local MP Dr Dan Poulter was delighted to attend the second Suffolk Trials Day, hosted by local farmer James Forrest and held in conjunction with Fram Farmers, Walnes Seeds and BASF.

The event attracted over 200 local farmers, as well as agricultural distributors, and also raised much needed support for the East Anglian Air Ambulance and YANA (You Are Not Alone) – a local organisation providing help and support for those affected by stress and depression in the farming community across Suffolk and Norfolk.

Aside from meeting many of the farmers and local businesses, Dr Poulter took part in a Panel discussion titled "Farming Life After Brexit", alongside Agri-Economist Carl Atkin. The discussion covered the potential changes in agricultural policy post-Brexit, farming responsibly, the environment and carbon footprint, as well as tariffs and seasonal workforces.
